the loss? you make it sound like they abandoned CCP when it was quite the other way round
and there hasn't been going on a lot anyway for more than 2 years now, only good thing or RP driving thing is CCP Abraxas, who is doing great work with his background fiction.
as for this 'RP is dead thingy':
the most prevalent problem with RP is that some think they can come along and decide force their rules and style on others.
then they go whine when it doesn't work out.

i have to say that Viqer mentioned a lot of the things that i was thinking about after my first rant in this thread.
some tings i want to add though or rather point out.
back in the days (2003/04) fleets consisted of 5-10 members, the times when on a sunday night 3500 people online where a massive number.
therefore it was easier to do some RP before, during and after combat.
nowadays there are 3 people comanding different wings, 200 people in local and a lot more at stake than the outcome of an empire fight.
back then or RP corps were huge when they had 50+ members and it was a lot easier to get all those members in line.
those are just two things i have to think of when considering what changed RP and in what way it is has become something else.
i myself have experienced how frustrating it can be when an RP war becomes a series of battles and you can't really get in touch with the RP on the field anymore due to above mentioned reasons.
some people then decide to leave RP, others decide to vent their frustration via other channels (have you not realized how much IGS has become a portal for hate messages disguised as propaganda?).
Garreck's and Jade's battlereport have been the first respectful post/thread in ages that was not a sermon or some other sort of propaganda!
i really do hope that factional warfare will provide a new odlschool battleground again, where small gangs can meet for nice relaxing battles where your enemies are more than called targets in a never ending list in your overview
EDIT: there was / is an OOC channel, maybe we should start meeting there again to work out organized fleet fights again and see the person behind the characters a little more
